Pinterest this, Pinterest that.
For the first few months of my blogging journey, all I heard about was Pinterest.
Pinterest for bloggers was the hot topic.
And let me tell you something. I hated it.
I had no idea where to start with Pinterest. And frankly it kinda scared me. It was a whole new platform for me. And I wanted to ignore it for as long as possible.
You right there with me?

Then I realized – it wasn’t going away. Nope, Pinterest for bloggers was all the rage.
I decided to quit fighting a losing battle and check this Pinterest thing out.
I dove in head first. Read a crap ton of articles, including Blogging Butterfly’s, Pinterest For Bloggers, which pretty much sealed the deal for me.
Pinterest is a blogger’s goldmine. Your new BFF, if you will. Once you two get to know each other, you’ll be thick as thieves.
So, take a deep breath, throw in the towel, and jump on that damn Pinterest bandwagon. You’ll thank me later, pinky promise.
PINTEREST FOR BLOGGERS
1. A HUGE SOURCE OF TRAFFIC
Not too much of a shocker here, given these fun facts.
- Pinterest fields about 2 billion searches per month. That’s insanity!
- Pins are 100 times more spreadable than a tweet. 100 times!
- Pinterest has over 100 million active users each month.
- Pinterest drives 5x as much traffic referrals as Twitter.
The numbers don’t lie. There’s really no denying the amount of love Pinterest can send to your blog.
2. AN AWESOME AVENUE FOR BLOG EXPOSURE
The intention is to get your blog in front of everyone and her mother, right?
Well, one of the best ways to do that, is by joining Group Boards. If the term is totally foreign to you (and chances are it is), a Group Board is a Pinterest board with multiple contributors, and each contributor can add her own content to the same board.
Often times Group Boards have a high number of followers. I’ve seen some Group Boards with over 50K followers. Now if that isn’t exposure, I don’t know what is!
And you know what that means for you? That means, every time you pin your blog content to group boards, they’ll be seen by boat loads of people. Ultimately, increasing the number of re-pins and visits to your blog. Ya dig?
3. FIND NEW CONTENT TO STAY INSPIRED
Straight out of the gate, I realized Pinterest is a treasure trove for blogging inspiration. If I’m feeling plagued with that dreaded writer’s block, I run a quick search on Pinterest within my niche, and I’ve got tons of writing ideas at my fingertips.
It’s refreshing to get out of your own head for a bit and see what your fellow bloggers are writing about. A peek at some pretty pins with clever titles often leaves me feeling re-energized and motivated to write something fun and new.
I often come away with tons of awesome ideas, including:
- blog content
- article titles
- pin designs
- graphic ideas
- and usually a new awesome pinner to follow
The trick is not to get too sidetracked. It’s way too easy to spend hours upon hours browsing all the beauty Pinterest has to offer. Been there, done that!

4. NETWORK WITH INFLUENCERS IN YOUR NICHE
It’s not always about what you know. Who you know can be just as important.
Having connections with the right people can be uber helpful in the blogging world. Networking with well-known influencers who have thousands of followers, can drive the success of your blog by leaps and bounds.
And what do ya know? Pinterest is one of the easiest ways to find these influencers! They pop up everywhere you look when searching within your niche. You couldn’t avoid them if you tried! So don’t!
Follow them, interact with them, and share their pins. Over time, you’ll likely develop a relationship that may very well benefit you both.
So take that first step, and reach out to your fellow bloggers. I doubt they’ll bite.
5. MAKE MONEY WITH PINS
Did you know that you can make cash money with your affiliate links on Pinterest?!
If you’re looking for new ways to increase your passive income with those lovely links of yours, then you’ll wanna pop ’em into a pin or two for some extra exposure on the interwebs.
It’s hands down, one of the easiest ways to drive traffic directly to your links – and make money! And with awesome tools like Tailwind and BoardBooster, you really have no excuse not to join in on the Pinterest fun. These guys will save you both, time and energy, which will take your love for Pinterest to a whole new level.
